Overview
Nigeria’s insecurity is partially rooted in poor governance and corruption and weak justice institutions. By working to help transform, strengthen, and generally improve capacities of security, peace, and justice institutions at all levels from local to federal, SPRiNG helps address these conflict drivers, leaving to a safer, more secure, and prosperous Nigeria.

Specific challenges of existing EWER systems must be addressed so that they can be better monitored and held to account. Communities must be mobilized to help support the system. These changes will result in more responsive and effective EWER systems, helping prevent violence and ensuring greater accessibility to members of the community.
By using strengthened EWER structures to address concerns rather than resorting to self-help that contributes to violence, communities will experience less violent conflict.
Specific challenges of targeted community policing systems must be addressed so that they are better resourced with knowledge, skills, resources and accountable mandates to become more effective and service-driven. Communities must be mobilized to work and support formal/informal community policing structures.
These combined efforts will result in targeted community policing systems that are more effective in human rights protection, crime prevention and law enforcement. This will result in reduced violence both in the community and between the police and the community.
Challenges of targeted dispute resolution, dialogue and reconciliation systems must be addressed to help amicably settle disputes, address conflict drivers and provide redress for grievance and injustice.
This will help improve public confidence in targeted dispute resolution, dialogue and reconciliation systems, reducing incentives for aggrieved persons and groups to resort to violence to achieve their goals.
